Frozen Hudson Bay ... finally the hunting season comes.

The Polar bear is the largest carnivorous beast on land. When they smell blood and meat, they gather from tens of kilometers. There were 87 bodies of walrus who were panicked and crushed away.

Polar bears are afraid of the huge fangs of the walrus. We drove away the approaching bear with a long stick like a fang.

In winter, the male Polar Bears hunt seals in the Arctic Ocean while the female raise cubs in snow dens.
Fukuda decided to photograph the dramatic scene of the mother bear coming out of a snow den with her cubs.
Fukuda made some snow blocks and built a small hide 60 meters away from a Polar Bear's snow den.

On the tenth day the mother and cubs came out of the den and Fukuda began to take pictures.
But the mother bear heard the camera shutter and attacked Fukuda.
Armed with only a flare gun Fukuda fired again but flare did not work and the bear continued attack.
Finally Fukuda began to stout and scream pretending to be male bear following the advice researcher had been given(act like a Polar Bear). And the female finally left.
